BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Analyst, Pricing Analytics for National Accounts and Government is responsible for delivering insights and analytics to optimize business pricing and profitability. This position owns key processes to ensure pricing is accurately maintained for existing accounts in scope, adjusting pricing based on contractual schedules or temporary drivers (e.g. Tariffs).  In addition, this individual supports the National Accounts and Government teams by providing ad hoc analytics which include scenario analysis, competitive price benchmarking, large bid strategies and other pricing related analysis (e.g. MFC). The position will work closely with the Strategic Pricing team (adopting enterprise methodology and tools), as well as the Corporate Deal Desk, which will be the main conduit to the NA and Government Sales Teams.  The end goals of this position are to: 1) Ensure accurate and timely pricing adjustments, as prescribed in contracts, 2) Establish and maintain sustainable analytical processes in support of identifying key profitability risks and opportunities and 3) Support scenario analysis for large deal negotiations, particularly for Government customers.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Owns the monthly price adjustment process for NA and Gov’t, as prescribed in customer contracts
  • Serves as a trusted adviser to the Deal Desk on pricing and profitability drivers to support profitable sales growth
  • Provides ad hoc analytics on specific opportunities, such as competitive price benchmarking, large bid strategies and other pricing related analysis (e.g. MFC).
  • Incorporates Sales and Deal Desk inputs, to calculate profitability scenarios for Deal Desk consumption
  • Develops and Manages “standard deal” parameters and tools that the sales organization can leverage
  • Ensures the pricing effect is incorporated in the forecasting process and reconciled to actual results
  • Provides support to Deal Desk Team Manager as subject matter expert
  • Ensures accountability for established guidelines and parameter
  • Proactively identifies and recommends ways to improve business processes with the goal of improving decision quality, reducing cycle time and improving efficiencies
  • Is a sales advocate & partner to internal organizations to understand complex sales issues.
  • Provides support to a team of business professionals and analysts responsible for supporting Large and Custom Deals
  • Ensures compliance with sales and business approval policies
  • Builds strong cross functional working relationships inclusive of legal, supply chain, e commerce, Sr executive, finance, sourcing, data analytics, sales operations, field sales, product management, Sr., National Account management for all segments
  • Understands the operational and pricing structures of the National Account and State & Govt programs, to better support these teams
  • Understands and interprets organization goals and initiatives so that priorities can be balanced and timelines established in a cost-effective manner.
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business or equivalent is required
  • Minimum of eight years of professional experience with at least five years’ experience in an analytical role with one or more of the following disciplines; financial analysis, business strategies, pricing or sales required
  • Expertise in retrieving data from systems, such as ERPs and Data-warehouses
  • Hands on expertise of large-data analytics tools, such as Alteryx and Tableau
  • Experience in working with National Accounts deals and large bids, with multiple negotiation rounds
  • Proven analytical ability is essential

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office Excel, Project, Word, Access) required
  • AS400 Knowledge and proficiency in internal RFQ tools is required after training
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates within the organization required
  • Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills are required

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time are required.
