JOB TITLE:  Sr Mgr, Customer Advanced Analytics-Remote

 

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Manager of Customer Advanced Analytics is responsible for leading a team that is the trailblazer in predictive and machine learning analytics for the enterprise.  This position will lead a growing team and will be tasked for setting and executing a vision around advanced analytics for Sales and Marketing.  The team will be tasked with delivering impactful solutions and insights, focused on specific key initiatives, for example generating optimized customer, product and market recommendations. The nature of the work will be extremely cross-functional, working with Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Category and IT to share and absorb best practices and continue to evolve data-driven decision making.  Success will be measured through the completion of key initiatives, which will then be operationalized and automated, giving space for new initiatives to be launched.  This team will be the incubator of novel ways to measure, predict and help drive business performance to new levels.

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Partners on the development the enterprise roadmap for Customer Advanced Analytics, in conjunction with the Executive team and the department leadership
  • Sets and executes a vision around advanced analytics for Sales and marketing.
  • Develops impactful solutions and insights, focused on specific key initiatives.
  • Measures, predicts and drives business performance to new levels.
  • Hires and develops data scientists, to continue enhancing the company’s capabilities around predictive analytics and machine learning
  • Distills key Customer Advanced Analytics initiatives from the broader company strategy, defines the scope, resources and timeline and executes A/B testing prior to rolling out to key stakeholders
  • Identifies opportunities to automate models and research, to provide longer term enterprise value
  • Ensures compliance with sales and business approval policies
  • Keeps up with cutting edge analytics techniques and tools, continuously evolving company best practices around Advanced Analytics and Data Science
  • Builds strong cross functional working relationships inclusive of legal, supply chain, e commerce, Sr executive, finance, category, pricing, sales operations, field sales, product management, Sr., National Account management for all segments
  • Understands and interprets organization goals and initiatives so that priorities can be balanced, and timelines established in a cost-effective manner.
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Manager as defined in the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates.
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in business, mathematics or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of eight years professional experience with at least five years’ experience in an analytical role with one or more of the following disciplines: statistical and financial analysis, business strategies, pricing required.
  • Positions with increasing levels of responsibility in data science, mathematical modeling or machine learning required.
  • Team leadership experience and ability to hire and groom data scientists required.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally required.
  • Ability to navigate complex data warehouse environments, including unstructured data sources required.

SKILLS:

  • Excellent PC skills (MS Office Excel, Project, Word, Access) required
  • Proven expertise in mathematical modeling, large data extraction and analytics (Python, R, Matlab, Scala, SAS, SQL, etc.)
  • Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau, Alteryx, Power BI
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of associates within the organization required
  • Excellent analytical and data manipulation skills are required

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time are required.
