DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Manages shipping workflow to ensure optimum service levels and RE (reasonable expectancies) is maintained.
  • Monitors appropriate shipping area(s) to ensure proper service levels are maintained.
  • Ensures dock area is secure.
  • Oversees service levels to ensure delivery trucks depart on time and as scheduled and ensures back-up delivery service if required.
  • Manages loading of drop shipments into delivery trucks.
  • Prepares bills of lading.
  • Resolves customer issues.
  • Utilizes AL system to perform daily uploads and close-outs.
  • Monitors and orders loose-fill (peanuts) material.
  • Conducts weekly department meetings to foster communication and discuss improvement opportunities.
  • Operates basic and advanced warehouse vehicles (i.e., electric pallet jack, forklift, turret truck and/or order picker).
  • Tracks and submits weekly reports regarding catalog shipments, transfers processed, and/or error rates.
  • Promotes safe work practices.
  • Attends cross-functional meetings regarding new procedures or improvements to the current system.
  • Resolves manifest issues, as needed.
  • Documents attendance, submits payroll information, and conducts reviews for large associate base.
  • Develops and supports supervisory goals regarding safety metrics.
  • Provides resources for Global Safety initiatives.
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC manager as defined in the MSC code of conduct including hiring, termination, review and development of associates.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.
  • In order to meet customer service requirements, associates can be temporarily re-assigned to other warehouse functions.
  • Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years job-related experience and one year of general business experience required.

           

SKILLS:

 

  • Must obtain MSC license to drive warehouse vehicles within specified time requirements.
  • Knowledge of MSC’s product offerings required.
  • Basic computer literacy required.
  • Knowledge of AS/400 system required.
  • Basic knowledge of packing and shipping process.

           

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  • Bending to lift items from the floor and racks required.
  • Lifting items between 25 and 50 pounds required.
  • Ability to operate at heights up to 50 feet required.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time required.

           

MISCELLANEOUS:

 

  • Position may require a valid states driver’s license.
