Coronavirus Information for Candidates

MSC is an essential, critical and life-sustaining business under all state and federal standards. We support customers that produce medical products and we are distributing personal protective equipment and cleaning products directly to the healthcare and government agencies addressing the public health emergency. With the ever-changing circumstances related to COVID-19, many of our MSC associates are working from home in the interest of social distancing. The health and safety of our associates and candidates is a top priority for us. We continue to recruit for certain critical positions and have been taking all the CDC precautions and steps to ensure our workplaces are safe for all. We are also speaking with candidates to explore future career opportunities. Please view our jobs and apply online at: jobs.mscdirect.com. For health-related tips and information related to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), please visit the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) website

Here are some of the most common questions we're receiving from candidates about our hiring process in response to COVID-19.  We know the situation is changing rapidly and will be sure to update this page with additional information as it becomes available. For additional questions, you can send us a private message on our MSC Careers Facebook page or ask your Talent Acquisition Partner.

Is MSC still hiring?
We continue to evaluate our hiring needs and are actively recruiting to fill roles immediately in various locations. We are also speaking with candidates to explore other possible job opportunities, and if there is mutual interest, will stay connected so that we are further along in the process once a job opening has been approved. How do I check the status of my application?
If you’ve already had an interview with a Talent Acquisition Partner, they will be in touch to provide an update. You can also check your application status by logging into your candidate profile on our career site Home Page and navigating to the 'View Profile' link towards the top-right corner of the page.

Are you conducting any in-person interviews?
To protect your health and the health and safety of our colleagues, we have adjusted our hiring process and are primarily conducting phone and video conference interviews. We’ve provided some tips below that may be helpful if you’re asked to participate in a video conference interview.

The job I was offered requires a pre-employment drug screen. I'm concerned about the safety of the drug testing facility, what should I do?
Certain positions require a pre-employment drug screen. Some facilities may be closed or not conducting drug testing so we encourage you to call ahead and check with the facility before completing your drug test. Please be aware that the laboratories where drug test samples are shipped/tested are not the same locations as those being utilized for Coronavirus testing. You may ask the facility about the precautions they’re taking to keep their facility clean too.

My start date is coming up soon. Is MSC offering work from home accommodations for new associates?
Many, but not all, of our positions allow our associates to work remotely during this time. Please discuss options with your manager.

What if I feel ill on my start date?
If you feel sick, have a fever, or have been in close contact with a person diagnosed with COVID-19, do not come to work. Instead, follow the guidance outlined by the CDC, your regional and local officials first. Second, contact your Talent Acquisition Partner to discuss rescheduling your start date.

Video Conference Interview Tips
• Set up your computer and test your webcam and the audio levels of your microphone and speaker.
• Make sure your background is tidy, distraction-free, quiet and well-lit.
• Connect to the video conference 5 minutes before the scheduled interview time.
• Be sure you’ve closed all unnecessary software and notifications and your computer is either plugged in or fully charged.
• Ensure pets and children are not going to interrupt your conversation.
• Treat this like any other interview. Provide good eye contact by looking directly into the camera and wear professional attire (suit & tie not required at MSC).
