MSC is committed to promoting a respectful, diverse work environment, constructive collaboration, innovative creativity, and genuine leadership. Our commitment is grounded in our company's mission statement: to be the best industrial distributor in the world. We believe that our culture and our business benefit greatly from the rich combination of experience, background and perspective that our diverse workforce provides. We seek to foster mutual respect and collaboration among all associates of different cultures, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, ages, national origins, socio-economic backgrounds, and abilities. Because we are dedicated to an environment of equal opportunity, we partner with several outreach organizations that help us in our recruitment efforts.

Inclusion Circles

Our Business Resource Groups, known as Inclusion Circles, are centered on increasing representation in identified areas across the organization, establishing a strong network, furthering the development of associates, increasing engagement, developing a diverse talent pipeline, and promoting growth through learning. We have the following groups established:

  • Black Inclusion Group (BIG)
  • disABLEd
  • Hispanic/Latinx Organization for Leadership & Advancement (HOLA)
  • Women's Inclusion Network (WIN)
  • Veterans Inclusion Circle
  • Pride Inclusion Circle
  • Generational Empowerment Network (GEN)

MSC strives to be a responsible corporate citizen with all our stakeholders in mind, including our associates, customers, owners, suppliers and neighboring communities. We seek to lead the industrial supply industry in fostering and strengthening a diverse and inclusive supply chain. We are investing in our Supplier Diversity Program that identifies, recruits and supports small, veteran and minority owned companies that make great products in order to fulfill our brand promise for the suppliers and the communities we serve.

MSC's involvement in the communities we serve dates back to 1941 and our founder, Sid Jacobson. Sid believed that companies were accountable not just to shareholders but to their communities. Our brand promise, 'Built to Make You Better,' honors that purpose and what we stand for - we exist for the betterment of others, not ourselves.

“Our mission is to be the best industrial distributor in the world as measured by associates, customers, owners and suppliers. We simply can’t achieve our mission unless we expand our circle and make it a priority to become more diverse and inclusive as a company.”
