BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the hourly work force (20-50 people, including temps) and operations at one of our Distribution Center; processing a minimum of 100 cycle counts per day; processing of inbound inventories exceeding 100,000 lbs. per week; processing over $30M in customer orders per year.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintains a working knowledge of operating systems in packaging and warehouse management.
- Implements cycle count programs and procedures to improve and control inventory accuracy.
- Maintains a well-trained staff responsive to the needs of the customer, both internal and external
- Responsible for the safety and security of all associates; maintains safe working practices and conditions in the facility and takes actions to correct any unsafe practices and / or conditions.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local statutes as well as DOT hazardous materials regulations.
- Maintains compliance with ISO9002 standards within the facility.
- Participates in teams and task forces as required.
- Maintains production standards while achieving productivity and accuracy goals.
- Reviews daily status reports to determine workload and timeliness of facility efforts; plans work to meet objectives with minimum use of overtime.
- Participates in staff meetings to discuss and promote general operating improvements and to plan for operations as well as special projects.
- Serves as part of the continuous improvement team.
- Screens qualified applicants and interviews as prospective new exempt and hourly associates.
- Implements personnel policies and procedures to meet company standards of performance.
- Provides an effective and acceptable means for associates to bring problems and complaints to the attention of Management.
- Responsible for facility housekeeping and maintenance of the building and grounds.
- Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
- Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
- 2-5 years of supervisory experience in distribution setting required.
SKILLS:
- General knowledge of distribution controls and operations required
- Strong leadership, project management, and implementation skills required.
- Able to lead and direct a team of hourly associates required.
- Good teaching abilities and human relations skills required.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills required.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Largely (75%) operationally interactive requiring mobile interaction throughout the normal workday.
- Entails normal requirements for lifting and bending; entails excessive standing and walking requirements.
- Requires normal dexterity, strength, and coordination.
- Requires use of telephone and ability to communicate both verbally and in written format.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
