The Manager, Category Sales Support and Programs leads multiple teams of associates responsible for the execution and continuous improvement of our Sales organization’s Category-based operational processes and issues along with Supplier Community funded programs such as Co-Operative Advertising and Rebate. This will include leading the optimization and continual improvement of all aspects of Category-based Salesforce support, as well as partnering with Category Strategy, Marketing and Sales to develop and support the execution of supplier funded programs to drive profitable growth in partnership with our suppliers. He/she will be responsible for one or more teams of managers and/or individual contributors, within which he/she will foster a high-performance culture, drive change, ensure alignment, and cultivate engagement of associates.


  • Leads and develops two teams: Category Sales Support and Supplier Funded Programs
  • Develops skills and abilities of managers, supervisors, or individual contributors along with managing associate performance.
  • Monitors metrics and collaborates with key leaders throughout the organization to measure success of the teams and programs
  • Leverages data to manage and continuously improve the teams’ performance and service level expectations
  • Develops and continuously improves Category Sales Support and Programs standard operating procedures
  • Participates in initiatives as a subject matter expert for all aspect(s) of Category Sales Support and Supplier funded programs and business process.
  • Monitors and reports out on key financial and operational metrics for Category Sales Support and Supplier Programs on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Works closely with Category Strategy, Marketing and suppliers to evaluate current business strategies and sales objectives to create effective supplier funded programs
  • Responsible for jointly creating with Marketing the programs that support the execution of new Supplier funded programs driven by Category Strategy, Sales and Marketing
  • Cultivates meaningful, business relationships with suppliers and develops strategies for supplier funded programs to increase supplier participation in MSC Go to Market activities
  • Strategically engages with Category Strategy to support the growth of the Co-Operative Advertising programs with suppliers.
  • Partners with Category Strategy and Marketing to perform periodic reviews, analyze program outcomes, provide insights and recommendations for enhancement and changes as required. 
  • Owns and continuously improves MSC’s processes for supplier funded programs to ensure compliance and accuracy of contract details from program execution to invoicing to collection procedures.
  • Continuously refines and improves the “Why Partner with MSC” story for our entire supply base
  • Identifies and executes new, scalable ways to drive profitable growth in partnership with our suppliers
  • Drives the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of MSC’s vision and fulfillment of MSC’s mission.
  • Participates in various other duties and projects as necessary.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, Operations or equivalent area of study or equivalent experience is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience leading a team is required.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant work experience required
  • Experience in Category Management, Sales or Marketing preferred.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency required; MS Excel Intermediate skill level or above required.
  • AS400, Salesforce and SharePoint experience preferred.

  • Able to build sustainable relationships of trust through open and interactive communication


  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
