JOB TITLE: BI Architect Lead

 

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

This is an opportunity to be a part of a special milestone, help us build the future of Analytics at MSC, and ignite a data-driven culture.The BI Architect will plan the information architecture and solution a design utilizing enterprise technologies and open source programming languages. This role will be the guide for architectural principles and standards around information delivery and integrations. The BI Architect owns business intelligence solution architecture, design, development, implementation for MSC. With the partnership across other areas, such as Data Engineering, Infrastructure & Operations, this role will provide feedback on the data models to ensure optimal performance with BI solutions. Additionally, this role will have direct reports in their squad consisting of on and offshore team members.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Owns business intelligence solution architecture, design, development, implementation, and administration with the partnership with Data Engineering in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
  • Provides technical leadership and guidance to BI Developers
  • Performs metadata modeling, and develop complex integrated data sets from disparate data sources with an expert utilization of SQL or BI platforms.
  • Builds and maintains schema objects and abstraction layer on top of various, changing enterprise data assets.
  • Interprets and assists in designing normalized and dimensional data modeling as well as experience implementing metadata solutions, and bi-temporal data models.
  • Manages and prioritizes work load of BI Developers by coordinating incoming work assignments with appropriate associates.
  • Collaborates with business users to define requirements and reporting specifications and provide technical report assistance.
  • Supports end-user training and provide second-line support for users who develop reports on behalf of their departmental colleagues.
  • Automating processes using powershell shell, batch scripts, or similar.
  • Contributes to and applies standards and governance of Business Intelligence processes
  • Acts as a liaison to the business user community, promoting the use of the data warehouse and its associated tools.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Analysis or a related study. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of wide-ranging analytics experience, in areas such as SQL based analytics, business intelligence and reporting, (machine learning/ statistical modeling is a plus
  • Minimum of three years of experience in designing and deploying enterprise-wide scalable operations on Cloud Platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Minimum two years of experience with Infrastructure as a service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) solutions development.
  • Systems integration with 3rd party platforms (i.e. Salesforce, SAP)
  • Experience with software design & implementation including CI/CD (Continuous Integration and Deliver) and Testing/QA

 

SKILLS:

  • Strong Agile / Design Thinking / Rapid Prototyping experience •Experience with DevOps process (exposure to GitHub, Jenkins or other CI/CD tools)
  • Strong Knowledge about Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn Down Metrics, Velocity etc.
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
  • Expertise or interest in architecting IoT solutions relating to sensors, cloud connectivity, AI (Artificial Intelligence), Machine Learning, and physical device communication. (Preferred)
  • Expertise or Interest in one or more specific IoT / embedded / M2M (Machine to Machine) industry (i.e. automation, asset tracking, safety, etc.)

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 15% of the time may be required.
