JOB TITLE: BI Platform Architect Lead

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:

The BI Platform Architect will provide platform and application administration, engineering, operational support and problem resolution for enterprise systems covering multiple cloud technologies such as data warehousing, BI analytics, and data science tools. This is an agile environment which requires the role to be flexible, self-driven and remain hyper-focused. Additionally, this role will have direct reports in their squad consisting of on and offshore team members.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides platform and application administration, engineering, operational support and problem resolution for large systems covering multiple cloud technologies such as data warehousing, BI analytics, and data science tools.
  • Contributes and implements ideas and processes to enhance system and platform stability and reliability through automation. Contribute technical guidance and design to future state architecture and cloud initiatives.
  • Provides technical leadership for the multiple environments including:
  • Reviewing current system's health and recommending and implementing enhancements
  • Conducting regular system tests and ensuring continuous monitoring of all prod and non-pro
  • Developing project timelines for ongoing system upgrades
  • Ensuring all personnel have access to the IT system limited by need and role
  • Automating processes using powershell, batch scripts, or similar.
  • Establishing disaster recovery procedures and conducting breach of security drills
  • Promptly responding to all security incidents and providing thorough post-event analyses
  • Document standards and operating procedures for a large systems and act as a technical resource to IT staff and systems users.
  • Stays current with latest cloud technologies, patterns, and methodologies; share knowledge by clearly articulating results and ideas to key stakeholders. May be required to present ideas to larger audience for review and buy-in.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Analysis or a related study. Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum of seven years of wide-ranging analytics experience, in areas such as SQL based analytics, business intelligence and reporting, (machine learning/ statistical modeling is a plus)
  • Minimum three years of experience as a cloud systems administrator/application administrator required
  • Experienced in cloud technology and cloud capacity management
  • Strong BI/Analytic skills in at least one toolset (e.g. Tableau, MicroStrategy, Looker, SAS, Power BI, etc.)
  • Experience in large volume data warehouse and/or big data
  • Experience with implementing cloud based (multicloud, intercloud) and on-premise business software solutions
  • Working knowledge of Docker and/or Packer(preferred)
  • Splunk - experience developing and understanding dashboards or equivalent (preferred)
  • Experience with DevOps process (exposure to GitHub, Jenkins or other CI/CD tools) (preferred)

 

SKILLS:

  • End user experience testing skills Strong SQL skills (T-SQL, PL/SQL, MySQL, Redshift) and/or Python coding or scripting skills
  • GCP/Azure cloud administrative/engineering experience •
  • Strong Knowledge about Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn Down Metrics, Velocity etc.
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 15% of the time may be required.
