JOB TITLE: Lead, Data Architect

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:
At MSC, we are growing our Analytics team and investing in forward-thinking BI and Data Analytics solutions. As we build out the team, we are looking for a smart and innovative individual who is self-sufficient and thrives in ambiguity, has experience in Analytics, and can drive results across MSC bridging business and technical areas. The Data Architect will be responsible for developing information management strategies, assessing the flow of data, including how it is processed and stored in support of our Data Analytics and Advanced Analytics products. This role will design effective and efficient processes for managing the data flow. You will serve as a technology advocate throughout the organization to promote the effective use of the data architecture to meet business needs and to build a sustainable corporate asset for MSC. This role will work closely with the BI Architect to support the development of information architectures and validation strategies leveraging industry standard best practices.
The Data Architect will have direct responsibility for the design, development and validation of MSC’s Data Analytics. Advanced Analytics Data Models ensuring accurate, consistent and comprehensive information is securely available to associates across multiple business areas. Apply understanding of distributed systems and architecture design trade-offs to influence data architecture concepts such as data modeling, workflow management, ETL/ELT, real-time streaming. • Be part of the plan. DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrates technical leadership by teaching and coaching others, collaborating with peers on system design and coding techniques, driving technical conversations and crafting creative solutions to challenging business problems as well as:
  • Uses and promotes established Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) standards, QA and change control procedures.
  • Leads and participates in IT technical design and development meetings to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions designed for high levels of data quality, integrity, performance, availability and reliability.
  • Performs impact, system, and data analysis based on business requirements.
  • Requires an understanding of regulatory considerations as it relates to database design and security, such as PCI compliance, consumer privacy, HIPAA and SOX, and designs data/information architecture that adheres to these regulations.
  • Provide production support and on-call support including problem analysis and resolution.
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Analysis or a related study. Master’s preferred.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in logical and physical data architecture design using database modeling tools required.
  • Minimum three years of experience with full cycle application development (Full SDLC experience: design,
  • Minimum three years with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery development, delivery, etc.),
  • Minimum three years of experience implementing modern applications using Cloud Based Solutions/Technologies (AWS Redshift, S3, Google BigQuery, Azure Data Bricks, Synapse)
  • Minimum five years of wide-ranging analytics experience, in areas such as SQL based analytics, business intelligence and reporting, (machine learning/ statistical modeling is a plus)
  • Experience writing testable code and shipping code into production.
  • Experience writing production grade code using: Python, Java, Spark, Scala, and other languages in support of ETL, ML, and Analytics.
  • Minimum five years of wide-ranging analytics experience, in areas such as SQL based analytics, business intelligence and reporting, (machine learning/ statistical modeling is a plus)
  • Experience or interest to identify, develop, and implement Analytics and AI/ML techniques to improve engagement productivity, increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, resolve issues, and optimize cost savings and efficiencies for each client.
  • Experience working with Data Science and related technologies (Python, R, SAS, etc.)
  • Experience with system automation and automated provisioning using such technologies as CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, Chef or Puppet.

 

SKILLS:

  • Familiarity with Microservices, Event Driven Architecture, and CQRS
  • Strong Knowledge about Agile techniques: User Stories, Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing, Burn Down Metrics, Velocity etc.
  • Strong knowledge of software development processes and procedures to understand team needs includes fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
  • Supply chain industry experience preferred
  • Experience or interest to identify, develop, and implement Analytics and AI/ML techniques to improve engagement productivity, increase efficiencies, mitigate risks, resolve issues, and optimize cost savings and efficiencies for each client.
  • Exposure to Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, general Machine Learning and Deep Learning technologies

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 15% of the time may be required.
