JOB TITLE:  Mgr, Analytics & Reporting, Commercial FP&A

 

BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:  

The Analytics and Reporting Manager is responsible for managing a team of data analysts, providing matrixed support to a team of finance business partners, and the sales organization.  The analytics manager will implement tools and create strategies to translate raw data into valuable business insights that enable enhanced business performance.

 

DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the finance and commercial organizations to identify, create, and automate data & reporting solutions
  • Develop the data management and reporting strategy to enable advanced analysis and data driven decision making throughout the finance and commercial organizations
  • Consolidate internal and external data sources into repeatable and sustainable processes
  • Interpret data and analyze results using advanced tools and statistical analysis
  • Drive productivity in the finance and sales function through collaboration and training others in advanced tools
  • Analyze large amounts of information to discover trends and patterns
  • Propose solutions and strategies to solve business challenges
  • Drive consistency and efficiency in reporting across business areas through effective communication, intentional rationalization, and clear expectations
  • Provide coaching and development to a team of data analysts
  • Performs all duties inherent in the role of MSC Manager as defined in the MSC Code of Conduct including hiring, termination, review, and development of associates
  • Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure unity of purpose and fulfillment of MSC’s mission
  • Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Statistics, Data Management, or equivalent. 
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience required
  • Minimum of two years of experience managing or overseeing associates in an analytics environment required. 
  • Proven track record of learning and implementing new data/analytics platforms and strategies

 

SKILLS:

  • In depth knowledge of financial modeling and analysis is required
  • Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills
  • Proficient in Tableau, Alteryx, ThoughtSpot, MicroStrategy or similar data & analytics platforms
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are also required, and the ability to prepare and present concise and persuasive reports and presentations
  • Ability to use multiple software packages to enhance efficiency, efficacy and confidence of results
  • Comfortable delivering dissenting opinions supported by facts in a respectful manner
  • Knowledge of R, Python, or other programming languages
  • Ability to coach and manage a team

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to travel up to 5% of the time may be required.
