As a Category Strategy Manager, you’ll use your drive for results to execute the Category strategy through implementation activities including strategy management, vendor relationships, category marketing, and cross-functional collaboration.  In this role you will be responsible for key vendor relationship management and negotiation, product line value proposition, and annual tactics planning. 




Use your solid business acumen and strong execution and customer focus to implement tactics, assess results and adapt based upon outcomes.


  • Manage day-to-day activities of your assigned product line(s) with suppliers
  • Use your skill at cultivating supplier relationships to lead negotiations and contract resolutions
  • Leverage your category and industry expertise, data and insights to help execute cross-functional initiatives to drive the business by serving as the Subject Matter Expert for your assigned product line(s)
  • Create customer solutions for assigned product line(s) and lead execution in partnership with Sales
  • Partner with the Category Operations team to implement pricing strategy and improve processes
  • Monitor product line contribution margin (sales, cost, coop negotiation, supply chain opportunities) to identify and lead execution of actions to drive growth
  • Articulate product line value propositions and whitespace
  • Manage product, brand, and vendor rationalization
  • Prepare thorough vendor performance reviews


  • 5+ years’ experience in the Safety, Healthcare and/or First Responder industry i.e. Sales, Supply Chain or Product Management
  • A High School diploma is required, a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent experience is preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience and knowledge of safety, healthcare, and/or first responder market supplies, regulations, and compliance.
  • Experience conducting safety and compliance training (example:  Fall Protection, Respiratory Products, Industrial Hygiene and Personal Protective Equipment) is preferred.
  • Experience as a Safety Professional within the industrial, healthcare or first responder market
  • Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP) certification is preferred and will be required within 6 months of hire.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) certification is preferred and will be required within 1 year of hire
  • Minimum of 2 years management experience in the industrial, safety or healthcare distribution industry is preferred


  • Strong understanding of the needs of safety, healthcare and first responder customer.
  • Strong leader, one who will roll up their sleeves to understand what is needed
  • Team builder and succession planer is required
  • Great presentation skills are required
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to derive conclusions from the data
  • Excellent management and communication skills are required. 
  • Strong sales, marketing and facilitation skills are required.
  • Strong customer follow up, organizational skills, & excellent communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines is required.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Outlook, and Microsoft Office Programs.


Compensation starting at $81,697.00 and up commensurate with experience.
