<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Serve as Senior Accounting Manager for Canada’s growing $55 million domestic Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) distribution business.  Provide key input, while maintain a hand on approach.  Accountable for quantitative and qualitative analysis of actual and projected results; internal control and financial policy compliance; assists the Managing Director in driving internal business improvements and strategic initiatives.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Uses broad business acumen and challenges financial assumptions to advise senior management on strategic initiatives and to ensure sound business decisions.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ensures compliance with statutory requirements and Corporate-wide control requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, control self-assessments, key control documentation, liaison with audit and corporate personnel on matters of internal control.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Coordinates and assist in the development and subsequent monitoring of financial projections for purposes of strategic planning, and other Corporate requirements as needed.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Seeks out and seizes opportunities for cost reduction through process, policy and practice initiatives.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ensures consistency and quality of reporting and compliance with Corporate reporting and financial policy requirements.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Leads the finance, payroll and inventory functions and fosters staff development (four direct reports).
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provides accurate and timely reporting of results and develops appropriate reporting tools for the further assessment of business performance. Responsible for monthly financial closing and the provision of all related financial reporting for the subsidiary in accordance with GAAP. 
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Serves as a business partner to the Canadian management team.  Provides financial expertise and support on all operational, sales growth, and strategic initiatives. Generates financial analysis, advice and guidance regarding improvement and profitability of existing businesses.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assists in the development of budget and forecast and provides business partnership to Regional Sales Managers in analyzing and challenging profit plan assumptions and elements.  Provides critical evaluation of forecasted performance to management for assessment and action.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Provides accurate and informative presentation of Canadian results in connection with monthly and quarterly reviews, annual plan review, and other presentations to senior management.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Assists in preparation of statutory accounts and reports, including but not exclusive of the annual Tax Return and Statistics Canada filings.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Responsible for the filing of the monthly HST and Provincial Sales Taxes.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Fosters the MSC Culture in the department and throughout the company to ensure fulfillment of MSC’s vision and unity of purpose.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Participation in special projects and performs additional duties as required.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Education and Experience:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Professional Accounting designation; CPA required.  MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Eight to ten years’ experience to include financial reporting and analysis in the private sector or comparable public accounting experience including supervisory experience.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience in Inventory Control Accounting. Accounting and managerial experience in a small to mid-size, publicly held, industrial or distribution company (or division thereof).
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Proficiency in accounting (US GAAP & IFRS) and auditing standards, procedures, theory and practices.

 

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Skills:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Excellent analytical skills to encompass problem identification, evaluation and solution.  High attention to detail is required.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Communication and persuasion skills leading to increased financial awareness across disciplines and joint resolution of business issues.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Strong project management skills and a record of delivering results in connection with business improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Excellent PC skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office, SAP and Hyperion.

 

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Organizational Relationships:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Frequent interaction with corporate and division financial personnel.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Frequent interaction with sales and distribution center managers and functional Canadian leaders.

 

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Other Requirements:

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to travel up to 5% of the time may be required.
